Do this BEFORE the workshop
Create Your ACCESS ID
You need a free ACCESS ID to log into the NAIRR / Jetstream2 cloud computer we'll use. It takes about 5 minutes — please do it a few days before class.
Use your SCHOOL email — not Gmail
You must register with your institutional email (like you@university.edu). An ACCESS ID made with a personal email — Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook.com, iCloud, etc. — will NOT work and can't be added to the workshop. If you already made one with a personal email, make a new one (or add your school email to your profile) before class.
Register for your ACCESS ID
Go to:
Fill in the form. For email, use your school address (you@university.edu) — not a personal Gmail/Yahoo/Outlook address. Where offered, choosing your university as your sign-in option is best.
Write down your ACCESS username
When you finish, you'll have an ACCESS username (a short login name, e.g. jsmith42). Save it — you'll log into Jetstream2 with it, and your instructor needs it.
Send your username to your instructor
Email your instructor your ACCESS username (just the username — never your password). They'll add you to the workshop's allocation. Adding takes a few hours to take effect, so send it a couple days early.
What happens next
Once your instructor adds you and it syncs (up to ~4 hours), you'll be able to log into Jetstream2 with your ACCESS ID on workshop day and follow the setup guide. That's it — you're ready.
One eligibility note
NAIRR is a U.S. national resource, so participants must be at a U.S. institution — which is exactly why your institutional email matters.
